MLB mid-season report
It’s been a wonderful first half of the 2005 MLB Season, and unless you’re in the NL Central, or watch baseball in Tampa Bay, Kansas City or Denver, you’ve got something to look forward to this year.
Check out what we thought of each team:
A note from a Londoner on 7-7
We sung for Live Aid, celebrated like high school kids on a Friday night when we won the Olympic bid, and now we’re praying after the London blast that will forever remain for us at 7/7….
So Sports and Politics shouldn’t mix. Well really, they do. And we have a quick word for Politicians too.
His .340 average, 20 home runs, and 64 RBIs are three very good reasons why St Louis Cardinal fans can’t get enough of Albert Pujols. But the swing’s not the only reason why we should love Albert Pujols…
Sheffield + Trade = Madness
Sheffield’s leaving would be another example of Yankee madness.
Around a month to July 31st, and it’s no surprise that there’s trade news from Yankee Stadium. However, Steinbrunner, Cashman and the backroom staff in the Bronx have shocked everybody in the baseball world by chatting to the crosstown Mets about sending RF Gary Sheffield to Shea for Mike Cameron and Miguel Cairo.
Wanna new stadium? Call HOK
If you go to a stadium these days, there’s 101 things to do. Listen to bell ring on a home run in Philly, or watch the cars drive over the Roberto Clemente Bridge in Pittsburgh. Heck, we never knew Pittsburgh look that good.
And you know what? It’s all designed by one company. HOK Sport.
Here’s my tribute to HOK…
The PAC-10 TOP 5 is…..
USC were #1 in the country, and Cal were almost as good too. Arizona State rode good quarterbacking all the way to a surpise Sun Bowl victory over Kyle Orton and Purude, whilst Oregon and Oregon State were their usual inconsistent selves. UCLA weren’t as bad as their 6-6 record indicated, whilst Washington, Washington State, and Arizona had ‘rebuilding years’.
So who’s 2005’s top 5??
Why would the rest of the world? Everyone will be watching the World Cup after all…
For many, the Olympics are nothing, the World Cup is everything. A country’s emotions all ride on the fortune of 11 players going out to do battle with the country on their chest (and thank God, without sponsorship).
Just got a letter from Joe Torre
That’s right! A letter from Joe Torre has just arrived on my desk in Bristol, TN. I thought I should publish it for you all to read….
