Stay Home Kenny

Kenny Rogers created a media fire storm once he Hulk Hogan-ed little Larry Rodriguez.  Only a week after this incident Rogers was selected by AL Manager Terry Francona to represent the American League in the All-Star Game.  A lot has happen in the last week or so, and now lets take some time to figure out whether Rogers really should be playing in Detroit on July 12th.       Kenny, Kenny, Kenny!!! What were you thinking? I mean you cannot even use the “heat of passion” defense. You had that moment of contemplation, that moment of wow I really want to kick this guy’s ass, but if I do I might get suspended and fined and become the poster boy for the spoiled athlete. Well, I guess those rational thoughts never entered your mind. You crossed that threshold with no qualms about you. You attacked “little” Larry Rodriguez and then felt like you didn’t get him good enough. The fact that you went back for more after your first go round speaks volumes of your current emotional state. The locker room wasn’t good enough huh? You needed something a little more substantive, maybe a moving target? Or something more expensive?

Kenny, if you know what was good for you you’d stay home Tuesday night. Because you know that every camera will be on you, and the all-star game will only be a celebration of your anger management issues. This has been a stellar first half of the season with great stories every where you turn. The only way to make right, and for your own public relations boost is to say you are not going to go because you don’t want it to be about you. Now, that’s a classy move. Just say listen I messed up. I have some things I need to deal with right now and I think the all-star break will give me some time to clear my head. Everyone starts to cut you some slack and the fans get what they really want, a game to celebrate the first half achievements of a Derrek Lee or Brian Roberts.

Kenny, this is a no-brainer. Stay Home! Let us have two days not having to see your face or your interaction with the media. You messed up, eventually we will give you a second chance. Just do not show up with a screw the media look or even worse, the “I am the victim” face. You dug baseball another whole that you will only exacerbate with your appearance Tuesday night. Now, more than ever, we need to see Dontrelle Willis’ smiling face and Albert Pujols’ quiet graciousness. Kenny, I am begging you to use whatever rationality you have left and stay home. Trust me Kenny, I am not holding my breath.

comment I know that everything that Rogers did to the camera man was wrong and he should be suspended for a long time but he did do well the first half of the season and deserves to be there. He got picked to go and as far as I’m concerned, if he’s allowed to go, then he should go . He apoligized and I’m sure he won’t be that much trouble.
