NFL’s Biggest Baby Babbling Again

‘No coach, I can only play if you are payin’ me 10 million bucks a year! Now excuse me while I go back to my fancy cars and ridiculously huge house so I can have my butler take phone calls from all the companies that are paying me millions of dollars to act in their commercials! Look, coach, you just have no idea how hard it is bein’ T.O.!’

So, tell me Terrell, how hard IS it bein’ you? Oh, your rear hurts from sitting around at home instead of going to training camp? I’m terribly sorry to hear that. What’s that? It’s Donovan’s fault? Oh, Andy Reid’s fault. My bad, I must have misheard you the first time. Ok, now excuse me while I go puke.

The NFL’s class clown, Terrell Owens, is at it again. After signing a 7-year, 49 million dollar deal before last season, he is now asking for a raise. I don’t know about the Eagles’ organization, but at this point I’d be willing to pay him a separate salary to just shut up and play. After the sharpie incident, the cheerleading incident, and the star incident in Dallas (which was just downright disrespectful), I don’t know how any team can put up with him. Sure, he’s a great receiver, a top notch player in the league, but is he worth that much money? Why should he get such a big contract and then feel like he has the right to ask for more? What else could he possibly want?

The Eagles put so much confidence in him before last year, paid him a huge salary, brought him to the Super Bowl, and he’s still unhappy? Since when did Terrell start playing for the love of money rather than the love of the game and the desire to win. For some reason the rich get richer in these cases, and it looks like nothing will stop the cycle. I don’t see the advantage for Terrell making extra money every year except he has more to spend on hip clothes and fancy cars. If he really wants to win, take home a super bowl ring like he claims, why not just go into training camp and prepare for the season? Why not just enjoy the money he’s making to play a game he loves? How many people in the world are getting paid 7 million dollars a year to do their dream job? Better yet, he should re-structure his contract and allow the Eagles more money to sign a free agent, or other big players to longer contracts, therefore increasing their chances to win a championship.

Of course Terrell would have none of that. It’s more important for T.O. to be happy and rich than to bring the title home to Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the star of the T.O. Show is in for a rough awakening when he realizes that the Eagles will not increase his contract and can actually win without him. For now, we can watch him try to dictate things in Philly, and then sit back and enjoy it when he throws a famous “T.O. Tantrum” when it gets turned around and thrown in his face.

‘Fine! Y’all won’t pay me what I want? I demand a trade…t-to the um…Patriots! Hey, why are y’all laughin’ at me like that? Alright, T.O. doesn’t need football anyway, he’ll just go play basketball if he is gonna be disrespected like this!’ Please, be my guest. Oh, and Terrell…don’t trip over your ego on the way out.
