NFL Week 7 Picks

These weeks don’t get any easier to pick in the NFL. We’re all hovering around the 60% mark each week, with the exception of Mr. X. I hate to call him out but what crack pipe has he been smoking? Well, at least he’s smarter than Merrill Hoge who still insists the Redskins are the team to beat in the NFC East and that the Eagles won’t make the playoffs.

Locks of the Week

Vegas Vinny: After my streak of Locks came crashing down last week (thanks, Chiefs), I am ready to start a new one. This week, I’m going with the Jets (-7) to cover. That’s right, just to cover. I think they lose to the Patsies but 7 points is way too many to be giving in a division game. In the past 3 games, the Jets have never lost by more than 7 points. I don’t expect this improved Jets team to be any different.

Now, on a side note, Guru Ganu must still be drunk from the Red Sox celebration to be making this next pick…

Guru Ganu: Cleveland: This isn’t going to be very popular in these circles, but I have a feeling on this one. Philly is favored by a touchdown on the road, to a suddenly revived Cleveland team. Add to the fray that Garcia is really pissed off (thanks to TO) and I think you have the makings of a very close game.

Philly is not going to go undefeated, and this is the type of game they can drop with out really effecting their division position. Take Cleveland and the points.

Mile High: This seems to be one of the tougher weeks to pick a lock. Could be a lot of upsets, at least when it comes to the spread. This week I have to go with Philadelphia (-7) as they visit the Browns. Garthia is coming off of a huge week, but the Eagles D should bring him back down to earth in a hurry. I’m sure TO has been brainstorming for weeks on what his TD celebration will be if he gets one. Something that will punk out Garthia I’m sure. This one could drag early on, but I think the Eagles wear ’em down and win easily as the game goes on.

Mr. X: Ok. This is it. I promise to get myself together. I am 1-5 for the year in LOCK’s. Not really LOCK’s eh? So I am making a promise to the 3 people who read this. I will finish above .500 in LOCKS for the season. That means 9-8 Minimum. Which would mean going 8-3 the rest of the way. I guarantee it.

Starting with an easy one. This week to get my comeback rolling I am going with TAMPA BAY (-7) to beat up on Chicago. I know I know – the spread is very big for a Tampa team that has so far been underwhelming. However – Griese and Co. almost beat STL in STL last week and Joey J. is back at WR. Couple that with the emergence of Michael Clayton and Pittman/Alstott both getting in the groove the Bucs are getting hotter. Meanwhile the BEARS are slowly turning into the worse team in football. Jonathan Quinn and Craig Krenzel, and I say this with a 100% serious face, could not suit up for the Amsterdam Admirals. Period. Blowout.
