The Bucks hope they won’t be the regular Bucks they were last year. With key additions such as signing Most Improved Player, Bobby Simmons, and landing Australian-born Andrew Bogut, Milwaukee has taken a big leap to their rebuilding project they have erected so far. They hope to make a 180-degree turn from their hideous season last year and resurrect back the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar era they have been waiting for decades.Placed with impediments they had to face (T.J Ford injured for rest of season, Redd upset with team, etc.), the Bucks struggled the whole nine yards last year. To make it easier to explain, they basically got pounced every day by opposing teams. Many repercussions have befallen such as their team chemistry dwindling day by day and their head coach getting the boot. Overall, it was a hideous squad to watch. They ended up 5th overall (last) in their division and a record of 30-52. Things needed a dire “Extreme Makeover” if they wanted to get back on their feet and that really means making moves in the market.
Granted with possessing one of the most money to spend in the offseason, the Bucks allured their affluence to many players looking to play on teams. Furthermore, Milwaukee even got lucky by attaining the first pick of the draft. With all these benefits they had, they had to be thrifty and an squanderer at the same time. They also had to be astute and cautious; choosing the right people at the right time is pivotal. Retaining all these points, the Bucks went out and acquired these players:
Courtesy of the first pick, the Bucks got to lay hands on anybody eligible for the NBA Draft. Finally making the decision by choosing Australian-native sensation, Andrew Bogut, their expectations for him to flourish are high. A guy who can pass and shoot exceptionally well for a 7 footer and be aggressive as a shark smelling blood, it’s an essential addition to their team.
Michael Redd was one of the biggest attractions in the free agent list and the Bucks have reportedly handed him a six-year deal consisting of at least 90 million dollars. Without losing one of the sharpshooters of today, they can baffle defenders about where to defend since the power inside presence of Bogut and the deadly outside presence of Redd can cause a setback to the other team in either way.
The Bucks have also signed Bobby Simmons, last year’s most improving player, to their team. Simmons has proven them last year that he can compete and play ball at the highest level. He can shoot threes, grab rebounds, dish out when in traffic, play tight lock defense, dive for loose balls, etc. This guy is basically an all-around player that can contribute you to many aspects of the game.
Brisk for searching another solid big guy, they went after their own player last year, Dan Gadzuric. Six year, 36 million dollars, settle their case and the Bucks have added another guy who can crash the boards efficiently and give offensive players a hard time inside the paint. Another guy who can propel them into a whole different team.
Last piece of puzzle was inserted when they resigned one of their veterans, Toni Kukoc. Giving them a veteran can bring leadership and experience to this squad and gain enlightenment from a guy who has had recent success in past years.
Besides all these transactions the Bucks have made, T.J Ford will be back this year after suffering a severe injury that caused him to miss the rest of the season. The doctors have gave him the green light to be out on the court again and hopefully be as effective as he was in his college years and his rookie season. His lightning speed and his ability to weave through defenders and pass can help Redd, Bogut, and other players to find open looks.
By adding a myriad of experience, potential, height, speed, aggressiveness, intelligence, competitiveness, and much more, Milwaukee will start on a new fresh page this year. This year it won’t be the sarcastic team everybody jokes about but instead they will be perilous and a team that other opponents will fear.
One reply on “Bouncing Back”
a few corrections “Milwaukee has taken a big leap to their rebuilding project they have erected so far.”
“their” should be “its” and “they” should be “it”.
Or, to make it all the more simpler, change Milwaukee to “The Bucks” or “they” or “The Milwaukee Bucks.” That makes the rest of the paragraph correct.
“Finally making the decision by choosing Australian-native sensation, Andrew Bogut, their expectations for him to flourish are high.”
It might just be me, but that sentence sounds a little awkward. I think it could be rewritten to read better.
Very nice job overall.
