Interleague play isn’t much more entertaining to me than intraleague play unless its one of the big rivalries, but it is fun to see teams play that may never do so again. Here are the power rankings after the seventh week of the MLB season; feedback is appreciated.

| 1(4) | ![]() |
29-16 | They’ve had trouble with the Pirates these last few games, but have managed to win them all. I’d be surprised if they didn’t catch the White Sox, who are leveling off, in the next week or so, especially with series against the Nats, Rockies and Astros coming up. |
| 2(1) | ![]() |
32-14 | Dustin Hermanson was officially named the team’s closer last week. Well deserved considering he’s given up zero runs in 20+ innings this year. Podsednik’s pace: 92 steals. |
| 3(8) | ![]() |
26-16 | The Marlins have been hot lately winning six straight, and they shouldn’t cool down anytime soon with series against the Mets and Pirates next week. |
| 4(2) | ![]() |
27-18 | Mark Loretta will be out for a while with thumb surgery, bring one Geoff Blum back into the Padres lineup. I’m going to venture a guess and say the Padres are not as good when Blum is in the lineup. |
| 5(3) | ![]() |
28-16 | I’m not sure they can hold onto the AL East lead with Javy Lopez’s injury and Brian Roberts nicked up. |
| 6(5) | ![]() |
22-16 | “Oil Can” Boyd is attempting a comeback, and he wants to join the Red Sox again, saying, “Let’s go get the Yankees.” They might need him if David Wells doesn’t improve. |
| 7(6) | ![]() |
26-19 | They finally got rid of Kolb as closer, which is a major step towards winning another NL East title. |
| 8(9) | ![]() |
26-18 | Kyle Lohse has performed better in May, even if his overall stats don’t really reflect that. |
| 9(11) | ![]() |
27-19 | Perhaps the pressure of New York was just too much for Vazquez, he’s been pretty good so far this year. |
| 10(12) | ![]() |
26-19 | Vlad Guerrero doesn’t need surgery, which is great. He’s one of my favorite players to watch. Scott Shields has been reliable, especially important since K-Rod suffered a minor injury. |
| 11(7) | ![]() |
24-21 | Randy Johnson has said the reason he’s not effective enough is that he’s getting too much time between starts (he’s pitched with extra rest three times this year). He’s still pitching decently though, and the Yankees have remained hot, although they’ve slowed down somewhat. |
| 12(15) | ![]() |
25-20 | Their 18-3 win over the Astros was an epic beatdown, and they haven’t lost since then. |
| 13(14) | ![]() |
24-21 | Corey Koskie’s injury hurts the Jays. They need all their players healthy to keep close in the AL East. |
| 14(13) | ![]() |
23-21 | Scott Erickson got kicked out of the rotation after the Odalis Perez injury, prompting celebration by Dodger’s fans I’m sure. He had been horrible so far. |
| 15(10) | ![]() |
24-23 | The Nationals are slumping a bit, winning just one in their last six games. |
| 16(18) | ![]() |
22-22 | Well, Bonds isn’t dying anymore, but the news of him being on a 24-hour IV made me wonder what Pedro Gomez would do if Bonds did die. |
| 17(16) | ![]() |
23-23 | Dae Sung Koo’s escapades provided the most hilarious baseball moment so far this year, one I have permanently saved on my TiVo. |
| 18(17) | ![]() |
23-23 | It’s rare to see a trade that benefits two teams, but the Podsednik-Lee trade seems to have done just that. |
| 19(20) | ![]() |
17-20 | Oh, apparently Zambrano’s elbow was a result of too much batting practice and too much computer, not throwing 130 pitches. Seriously, does anyone actually buy this crap? Maybe he won’t have to throw CG’s to get the win now that Joe Borowski’s back. |
| 20(19) | ![]() |
18-19 | Ivan Rodriguez hasn’t been the offensive player he normally is this year. The Tigers need him to be better if they hope to compete. |
| 21(23) | ![]() |
20-24 | Since Coco Crisp has been out with a thumb injury, AAA call up Jody Gerut has been playing decently with a .389 average. Indians fans have to hope still have to hope that either Crisp (originally expected out three months, now about three weeks) or Juan Gonzalez comes back strong soon. |
| 22(22) | ![]() |
21-26 | Jim Thome’s back, but he still doesn’t look like normal Jim Thome. Jon Lieber’s on a bit of a cold streak, losing his last three decisions. |
| 23(21) | ![]() |
19-24 | They’ve played really well in the last few games (losses to the Cardinals), but all anyone’s going to see is that they lost. They’re actually .500 in games not against the Cardinals this year, but St. Louis has won eleven straight against the Bucs. |
| 24(25) | ![]() |
15-23 | The Mariners have a chance to get back on track with a series against the D-Rays coming up. |
| 25(28) | ![]() |
17-27 | Octavio Dotel’s injury may actually help them, but it won’t matter much if they continue to not hit. |
| 26(26) | ![]() |
18-28 | Danny Graves was sent down to AAA last week, prompting his teammates to defend him and criticize the move which will likely lead to Graves’ release. Maybe the Reds like losing or something. |
| 27(27) | ![]() |
16-30 | Josh Hamilton, the number one pick in the 1999 draft, was arrested last week and will likely not be reinstated from a drug suspension by the Devil Rays. Bet the Rays are glad they picked him over Josh Beckett. |
| 28(24) | ![]() |
15-30 | The Astros are holding open tryouts, if you can hit a ball you’re on the team! (Only a small stretch: http://tinyurl.com/c79sx) |
| 29(29) | ![]() |
11-25 | Preston Wilson sure has fallen far in two years. The Rockies are in a dead heat with the Royals for last place. |
| 30(30) | ![]() |
11-28 | I get depressed because the Pirates are nine games back, the Royals are 18.5 back. |

the may power rankings I think your rankings are pretty much what I would say but I do see the pirates higher than the cubs because of the pirates good starting pitching even without offense and with the mariners struggling even with their 1 billion dollar shopping spree this year I still find them stronger than the brewers who are much higher than them. All in all sounds good
