46-14 | For confidence reasons, the Suns need to beat the Spurs tomorrow night. This is the last chance they’ll have to play them….until the Conference Championships. |

46-13 | With Duncan hobbling, the Spurs aren’t locks to sweep the season series with Phoenix Wednesday night. But then again, the Spurs always find a way to overcome adversity. |

41-17 | Barring a miracle or a few injuries, the Sonics look like a lock for at least the 3rd seed in the West. I doubt they are gonna be satisfied with that. A 2 seed gives them home court through the 2nd round as well. Seeing that they are 4.5 games back, the Sonics might try to make a move. |

46-16 | The Heat continues to roll towards their goal of an NBA Championship berth. It would be a major disappointment for them not to make it. Dwayne Wade is averaging 25 during their current 6 game winning streak. |

34-25 | The Grizzlies are looking really good right now. They are on 4 game winning streak and should beat the shorthanded Kings in Sacramento to make it 5. And with Utah, 2 games vs. Portland, and New Orleans coming up, the Grizz should pass the Rockets in the standings. |

36-22 | The Pistons looked like they were back into form until they played some real teams. Granted, their losses to Phoenix, Seattle, and Sacramento weren’t surprising, but if they wanna be taken serious they are gonna have to beat some elite western conference teams. Getting blown out by a injury depleted Sacramento team isn’t acceptable. |

39-20 | The Mavs got a much needed win vs. Toronto to end their 3 game losing streak. They need to get healthy immediately because….. |

37-24 | ……the Kings might be ready to make a run. Sacramento got their biggest win post-Webber against Detroit. Mix that win with their next 4 home games, and the Kings might have the confidence required to make some upward movement. |

34-25 | During the course of a season, there stretch of games that will tell how a team will be in the Playoffs. Well Houston, with road games in Seattle, Phoenix, and Sacramento, your stretch has arrived. |

33-25 | Thanks to the Cavs shutting down recently, the Wizards didn’t lose much ground in the East while Hughes was out. Now with Jamison in pain, everybody else is gonna have to carry extra loads again. The good news is they don’t play again until Sunday, so Jamison will have time to rest. |

31-29 | Even with a 13-20 conference record and a 12-20 road record, the Nuggets have closed in on the Lakers. With 7 straight wins, they are finally living up to expectations. Does that mean George Karl start getting noticed for Coach of the Year? |

31-27 | Ok so I wrote off the Magic rather early. But if I had to choose between Orlando, Chicago, Philly, Indiana, and Boston in making the playoffs, the Magic would be sitting this one out. |

30-28 | Well the last 24 games for the Lakers are all very crucial. With Denver standing right next to them, the Lakers need to treat each one like a playoff game. If they don’t, there wont be any playoffs this year. |

30-24 | Its time for the Bulls to make a statement. With a 3 game road trip to the west, it seems to be the perfect time. A 2-1 or 3-0 trip would no only keep them riding high until the playoffs, but it would allow them to pass the Cavs. |

31-27 | Maybe the Cavs aren’t quite ready to become a good team just yet. They’ve lost 6 straight and 3 of those games were by 15 or more points. I don’t know if they were overachieving earlier this season or underachieving now. I do know the more they fall, the better chance that they’ll end up playing Detroit or Miami in the 1st round. |

29-30 | Let’s talk about bad luck. 1st the brawl ends any chance they had of competing for the Eastern Conference. Now as they fight just to make the playoffs, J.O. goes does down. How much more can they take? |

30-30 | Looking back, maybe it wasn’t a good idea for McHale to take this team over. Some of their players played their best ball last year and won’t be that good again. Now all they can hope for is a 8th seed and a date with the Spurs or Suns. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again; they should’ve made some moves before the deadline. |

26-34 | Let’s see, they are 5-5 in their last 10, 18-18 in their conference and 5-5 in their division. So they are playing .500 ball. Not bad. But with a 26-34 record, .500 ball gets you straight to the lottery. |

25-34 | Whaddya know, the Knicks have won 4 of 5 and aren’t playing bad basketball. Then again, those 4 wins were all at home against somewhat average teams. Now they host Washington, Seattle, and Miami. I promise we won’t see the same results. |

25-35 | Now that Boston and Philly made some upgrades, the Raptors slim hopes of a playoff berth are gone. Now that it’s done, here’s a note to all teams fighting for a playoff berth: The Raptors are dangerous at home and would love nothing more than to be spoiler. Be Careful! |

Sixers normally, i argue that they’re ranked too low. Based on tonight’s performance against the Warriors, they might be ranked 10 places too high. Damn them.
As I was finishing the rankings I checked the score and just shook my head.

1999 when they went 37-13.
In a full year, 1982-1983 when they went 30-52. They never had a 40 win year before (record was 39), and other than the lockout year they never had a less than 40 win season since.
