There comes a time in a man’s life where he has to make a prediction. This man has to guess on a certain topic. My time has come and my topic is who will win the Super Bowl. My choice right away is the Seattle Seahawks. The soon to be dominant team in the NFC West. The soon to be team that makes the Rams worse than the Cardinals. The soon to be team that overtakes the Patriots and becomes all reigning. This team will win the Super Bowl. Now I know there are some of you who don’t agree with me on my choice but you guys have to hear me out. This team will be plain unstoppable. There is no doubt in my mind these guys have the talent and if Holmgren gets them together playing the best they can, they will win the Super Bowl. Here are my reasons why.
1.Matt Hasselbeck. This guy is just plain getting better every year. Last year he showed that he had the talent to be considered one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Under Holmgren’s wing, he has matured and is turning into another Brett Farve(See under Holmgren’s wing). Just recently this summer, Matt won the quarterback challenge by a huge margin and is showing signs that he is going to come into the upcoming season as a threat to all of the Seahawk’s opponents.
2. The running tandem of Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris. This team of runningbacks is just plain great. You have the power, experience, and touchdown scoring ability with Alexander and the speed and elusiveness with Morris. This tandem can really mess with a defense’s mind because on third and long with Morris in, they don’t know if Hasselbeck is going to pass or they are running the toss with Morris.
3. The receivers. Last year these guys had their ups and downs. They had great breakaway plays yet they led the leauge in dropped passes. Now I know some of you right now don’t agree with me that the receivers are a key to the Super Bowl this year but over the summer these guys have worked very hard to stop their catching problems. If one of the receivers drops a pass, he has to do a set number of pushups(I think ten). This not only sets in the mind to catch every ball but it helps bulk up Seattle’s skinny receivers!
4. Marcus Tubbs. With the addition of this massive d-lineman, the Seahawks have great help stopping the run. He is very wide and is quick for his size(Played basketball in high school). If he lives up to his hype, Tubbs could really help the Seahawks out this year.
5. Defensive backs. With the young guys more experienced (Marcus Trufant and Ken Hamlin) this group of DBs look great. During the offseason the Seahawks aquired cornerback Bobby Taylor to be opposite Trufant. He has skill and is a very good cornerback. Also, in the draft, the Seahawks picked up OLB Michael Boulware. They picked him up with the thought to make him a strong safety opposite free safety Ken “The Hammer” Hamlin. If this move works out and Boulware transitions easily, the Seahawks could have some of the hardest hitting safeties in the NFL.
These are just five reasons why the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl. I didn’t even mention the o-line (which is very good) and the linebackers (young but great with Anthony Simmons and Chad Brown leading the crew). You just can’t deny the talent these guys have. They really are that good.

I’m editing this for format x

editing good topic, but no hard facts. What did the tandem of alexander and morris combine for in yardage? What did they rank in the nfl. Shouldn’t use exclamation points in journalism. You say that Hassleback is getting better every year I don’t disagree, you should show his progression with his qb rating or a comparison of pass yardage from previous seasons–the guy has incredible range and vision–that might help. Consider comments from the staff, or coach Holmgren that you could pull off the wire. I understand where you’re coming from but does everybody else?
Article Could be presented better visually.
Good length and structure, but weak presentation and weak opening.
What Mike said.
Agree I agree with your opinion on the Seahawks. I believe they have what it takes to go all the way. However, i believe that you can still add more supportive ideas to your article. If i werent already convinced that Seattle will win the SB, my mind wouldnt have changed because of this article.
Seahawks I do agree that Seattle will be one of the best teams in the NFC, I disagree with some of your reasoning.
1, 2 and 3 are valid points, if poorly supported.
4, however, is a pipe dream. The chances of a rookie D lineman coming in and making a significant contribution are slim. They just have too much to learn and go up against a quality of opponent that they are not used to dealing with on a weekly basis. NFL O linemen are gonna be embarassig this guy for at least the first half of the season.
5 makes even less sense. If anything the Seahawks defensive secondary will be marginally weaker. That’s a bad thing, because you guys had the 27th ranked passing D in the league for ’03.
Your overall D was ranked only 19th. Your scoring D was 15th.
You still have Hamlin, but you got rid of tongue and his 63 tackles. Now you have no depth at Safety and don’t really have an answer to Tongue’s departure.
You got rid of Springs and replaced him with Bobby Taylor. Skill-wise that’s an upgrade, but Taylor can’t stay healthy for more than a few weeks at a time. If he isn’t on the field for half the season, he isn’t really helping you.
The best thing you did to help your DBs is to sign Grant Wistrom. An improved pass rush will help cover up a few failings in the secondary.
I’ll agree that Seattle’s O will be moderately improved. Buy your D, especially the secondary, is moderately degraded and wasn’t very good to begin with.
What really may save your D is fairly weak schedule.
Seattle does have a chance to win it all. But, thanks to their defense, they also have a chance to take a tumble.
facts? There is no way nfl receivers are doing only 10 push ups as a punishment for drops, my high school team did 50. If you don’t know a fact don’t just guess.

WRONG! Seems to me that somebody messed up here. You were sort of right in the sense that they have the talent to get there, but they are playing so inconsistently right now. Won’t win the Super Bowl until they get some consistent play and some receivers who can catch.
