The 1993 San Francisco Giants won a franchise-record 103 games, only to fall a game short of making the postseason. The 2005 edition of the ballclub by the Bay will definitely fall short of that plateau, but they just may have enough to possibly earn a trip to the postseason.

Whether it was stopping to take a peak at the gym, checking out tvs in Costco, or walking into a local bar to get a score update, one conclusion could be drawn from Saturday's victory by #20 Notre Dame at #3 Michigan. There is just something gratifying about college football when the Fighting Irish are competitive.

Love 'em, or hate 'em, (there really is no in-between) Notre Dame is the most recognizable college football program. From the legend of Rockne to Rudy, from Touchdown Jesus to Montana Joe, Notre Dame has been etched in the mindset of America.

I know it's only August 5th, and there are still two months of pennant chase left, but why not start thinking about the A's in the Fall Classic. Although it is premature to talk about any sort of postseason run while the centerfield at McAfee Coliseum is in tact, the A's recent success has captured the attention of teams around the leagues and had fans dreaming at night of the possibiliity.
