Charlie Weis: Big Time or Big Bust?

Mention Notre Dame football, and a few things come to mind.  You either love them or hate them.  They do not belong to a conference. They aren't the team they used to be.  The Irish have been through Bob Davie and Ty Willingham without the great success the Irish was once familiar with.  In 2005, in walks the "offensive guru", the man with five Super Bowl rings.  Charlie Weis takes over the football program in South Bend.  OK, now Notre Dame is headed for the national title within the first three to five years.  Some publications thought he would have the Irish in the big game in his second year.  Two completed seasons down.  What has Weis done with the golden domers?

Okay. The Boise State Broncos versus the Oklahoma Sooners was the greatest game ever played. Isn't funny how we forget about the Rose Bowl from last season? Some called it David versus Goliath. Others were saying if you want to run with the big dogs, well, here is your chance.

The Missing Link In Division 1A College Football

Yes. This is another article related to a playoff in division 1A college football. Division 1A college football is lacking a playoff, and that is a fact. I am not going to pitch my ideas about an 8 or 16 team playoff/tournament. I am not going to degrade the BCS.  Well, I might do this a little. I want to have a discussion about the word "playoff" and/or "tournament" and the idea of either term not being part of college football vocabulary.

Would The Playoff Really Work?

Most of the fans want a playoff in college football.  They hate the computers having so much weight.  It isn't right that all of the other major sports (even college) have a playoff.  Why doesn't Division 1A college football create some sort of playoff or tournament?  Well, go ahead and consider it.  Should only conference champs go to this "playoff"?  What about the mid-major schools?  Are they included also?  Isn't this one of the main differences in college football?  Division 1A has teams that belong to two separate groups: the BCS and non-BCS.  Division 1AA does not have anything like this.  Doesn't Division 1A have its BCS conference teams and Notre Dame, while the Division 1AA teams are all treated the same?  College football fans from all around want a playoff/tournament.  Why can't this happen?

I know that the BCS is not what everyone wants or likes. I have created another system that may be more welcomed. It was just for fun. If it offends you or your team, it wasn't meant to.

THE MANY PROBLEMS OF THE BCS - SOLVED

Yes. College football sparked my interest at the right time.  I was never a big football fan until I went to my first college football game.  I was hooked the moment that I saw the inside of the stadium.  I learned about the game very fast.  I grew familiar with the teams, conferences, championships, bowl games, but not the Bowl Championship Series (BCS).  The BCS includes the six major conferences:  The Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East, Big Ten, Big XII, PAC-10 and Southeastern Conference. So I looked furhter and examined this thing called the BCS. Let me be the first or the millionth person to tell you, it is a piece of crap system.
