If only the Beers put up the same resistance that the French  put up to the Germans in 1940, the score might have been closer.

The weather was a beautiful 65 degrees at the drop of the puck, but the floods arrived shortly after the opening faceoff.

Is called the Bad News Beers. I will use my journal space to keep you updated on the Beers in their inagural season of the adult D north league. We lost our first game 5-0 but we only had 6 dudes and we were throwing-up tired by the middle of the first period.

With Memorial day being one of the most American days of the year, I expected an American tradition of Memorial Day TV watching: Baseball, baseball and baseball followed by the traditional late afternoon conference final basketball game. I literally had hot dogs and apple pie ready to go when I turned on the tube.

Here's one for all of you baseball freaks:

I was listening to an audio rendition of "Emperors and Idiots" last night at work and I came across this little known fact:

In 1947, Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey (who was drunk) and Yankees owner Larry MacPhail agreed in principle to trading Ted Williams to the Yankees for Joe Dimaggio and a little known catching prospect from Jersey named Yogi Berra. Yawkey sobered up and nixed the deal a few days later.

I found this little nugget in the "Baseball Encyclopedia" the other day. It turns out that Barry Bonds' next home run shouldn't tie the Babe. Ruth actually should have 715 home runs.

There has been a buzz about the Kansas City Royals fan who has sold of his loyalty to the Royals on eBay. All he could fetch was about 278 bucks and some hilarious publicity. The winner of the auction also gets to choose the next team the former Royals fan will now support.
