"New Look Giants"

By Billy Fellin

The 2007 Super Bowl Champions came into the 2008 season being underrated, disrespected and basically ignored. And why not? It's not like they beat the previously undefeated New England Patriots. But that's just the way that the Giants like it.
The Giants have looked dominant thus far this year, their most recent victory coming against a normally formidable Seattle team. So what is the cause of this success? This success is coming from confidence, depth and experience.

Shred the Rack: Why bowling will never be a mainline sport

I would be willing to bet that anyone who reads this column has been bowling before. Whether it would be a rainy day activity with friends or that cool birthday party when you were 5, most of us at one point or another have thrown a bowling ball down the lane. But how many of us actually would consider it a sport that takes just as much work as football, baseball, hockey or basketball? Or even a legitimate sport at all, able to even be mentioned in the same sentence as the four sports previously listed. Certainly fewer people than have ever bowled in their life actually take bowling seriously and consider it a thriving sport. I am one of the rare people who take bowling seriously, but I don't think it will ever become a mainstream sport that people will jump up to watch as they do for football and baseball.

The 2007 Yankees season is in the books after the disappointing loss in the ALDS against the Indians. To keep the book analogy going, we may have seen the final chapter in the saga that has been the Yankees under Joe Torre, if George Steinbrenner's comments hold true that is. There are many questions to be asked when it comes to where the Yankees go from here.

Woo-hoo! I love this time of year. The Yankees are in the playoffs, the Hurricanes start tonight against the Canadiens and the Giants are finally showing signs of life! In my return from a long hiatus from Sportscolumn, I will be discussing the Big Blue. They didn't play great in the opening two games, but against the Redskins and Eagles they came alive and high hopes for the season are back.

Rocket Landing

"Houston, we have a problem"
"Go on"
"The Rocket has landed in New York."

The move that rocked the baseball world on Sunday, the Yankees signed Roger Clemens to a pro-rated 1-yr/28 million dollar deal. This comes out to about $4.5 million every month. So will the Rocket's coming to the Bronx energize the team and get them back from the darkness of the AL East? Or is there nothing to help save the Yankees' sinking ship?

Dizzy is what happens when you spin around on a tire swing or a rotating chair too long. Dizzy can happen when a beautiful girl walks by and you turn your head so fast to catch another glimpse. That could also be filed under whiplash. Any one else think there should be a HANS-type device that could prevent this? Can we get a ruling on this? Ok. Moving on, dizzy also happens to be a very good song by the Goo Goo Dolls. Dizzy is also how Yankee fans are currently feeling after the three game sweep in Fenway this past weekend.

Zach Johnson's comments that circled around that the Masters' ended on Easter Sunday and that Jesus was there with him to help him win got me thinking about just how big of an impact religion has on sports. The comments to that particular blog article also helped spurn these thoughts in my head. So this one is for you anonymous fans that posted those comments!

After seven months of anticipation, more steroid talk, the drama out of the Bronx and the roulette game that is free agency, Opening Day has finally arrived. Opening Day is arguably one of the greatest days in a sports fanatic's life, such as mine. There's just something about Opening Day, the anticipation of it and the aura surrounding the first pitch, the first home run or the first win of the year.

NASCAR for Northerners

More on: NASCAR (all tags)

By Billy Fellin

NASCAR isn't just a sport for people who consider y'all a word worthy of Webster's Dictionary. Believe it or not, NASCAR is a sport and other people outside the South do like NASCAR. I was born in Connecticut and am a huge NASCAR fan. So here's why people outside the South can, and do, like NASCAR.
