by Matt Wells When Joba Chamberlain was called up from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre last year to pitch for the New York Yankees, he took the baseball world by storm. A pitcher in his early twenties who could make hitters look foolish with 100 MPH fastballs and then freeze them with wicked sliders was surely a diamond in the rough. A pitching prospect like Chamberlain certainly doesn't come around all that often. (2 comments, 1293 words in story) Full Story By YanksWS96, Section MLB
by Matt Wells So, baseball is around the corner, as we all know. We've got our fantasy baseball teams lined up and we're wearing our team colors to work, school, etc. (I'm not, but I know some die-hard baseball fans who will).
Just like at the beginning of every season, we all make predictions. A-Rod will hit such-and-such amount of homers, Johan Santana will get __ wins in his new Flushing digs, Team X will finish with 80+ wins, etc. There is one thing that I know for sure, though. This year, the American League East will be a dogfight. (1 comment, 815 words in story) Full Story By alexferguson60, Section MLB
Here's who we blame for the steroid crisis in baseball. Ourselves. (1 comment, 644 words in story) Full Story By mw2828, Section MLB
"I like songs about drifters - books about the same. -Modest Mouse, The World at Large OK, quiet down for just a second, cease and desist with the anger and indignation. Because I love telling this story, never get tired of it. It was an unbearably hot afternoon at Yankee Stadium. We're playing Texas, Juan Dominguez on the mound. Alex Rodriguez is at the plate, in the midst of a phenomenal 2005 season, carrying the team. (1487 words in story) Full Story By ClassicRocker06, Section MLB
By Billy Fellin The 2007 Yankees season is in the books after the disappointing loss in the ALDS against the Indians. To keep the book analogy going, we may have seen the final chapter in the saga that has been the Yankees under Joe Torre, if George Steinbrenner's comments hold true that is. There are many questions to be asked when it comes to where the Yankees go from here. (4 comments, 1148 words in story) Full Story By ClassicRocker06, Section MLB

"Houston, we have a problem"
The move that rocked the baseball world on Sunday, the Yankees signed Roger Clemens to a pro-rated 1-yr/28 million dollar deal. This comes out to about $4.5 million every month. So will the Rocket's coming to the Bronx energize the team and get them back from the darkness of the AL East? Or is there nothing to help save the Yankees' sinking ship? April baseball may be about as meaningful as the 7th round of the NFL draft (do you really think Ramzee Robinson will have a big impact on the Lions next season?). Still, this opening month of baseball has been quite an eventful one. The Yankees are in last, the Brewers are in first, the Braves have returned, and Barry is back. Here is some hardware for the best (and worst) of April. (1 comment, 1431 words in story) Full Story By ClassicRocker06, Section MLB

Dizzy is what happens when you spin around on a tire swing or a rotating chair too long. Dizzy can happen when a beautiful girl walks by and you turn your head so fast to catch another glimpse. That could also be filed under whiplash. Any one else think there should be a HANS-type device that could prevent this? Can we get a ruling on this? Ok. Moving on, dizzy also happens to be a very good song by the Goo Goo Dolls. Dizzy is also how Yankee fans are currently feeling after the three game sweep in Fenway this past weekend. After seven months of anticipation, more steroid talk, the drama out of the Bronx and the roulette game that is free agency, Opening Day has finally arrived. Opening Day is arguably one of the greatest days in a sports fanatic's life, such as mine. There's just something about Opening Day, the anticipation of it and the aura surrounding the first pitch, the first home run or the first win of the year. Just a few days ago, spring training began in baseball when first the pitchers and catchers then the rest of the players showed up in camp and started to work out for the 2007 season. Great, I'm already excited about the weather getting warmer (gotta love nice spring days on a college campus-girl's shorts get shorter ever year) as well as baseball getting going. But then we get drama worthy of a high school cafeteria out of New York where A-Rod has said his friendship with Derek Jeter has "cooled". Honestly, guys, just can it.
