I found out today that Michigan lost again at home to a team they should have beat, at least on paper. Living over here I am not reading local newspapers, but I must believe that everyone is calling for Coach Carr to be tarred-and-feathered right now.

For all the attention that the BCS bowls get, it's surprising how little is focused on the actual games. I've heard much more about proposed playoff systems that won't happen then the games that will actually take place. And when people do predict the BCS games, it's about 95% in favor of one team. This year, every BCS game but one features a heavy favorite. Can any of the underdogs win? Which team will surprise the most people? Never has an Ohio State/Michigan game been so big and meant so little. Arguably the greatest rivalry in sports, the 42-39 epic between the two programs last Saturday may have been the most exciting installment of the series ever. The new BCS standings could render the classic battle meaningless, however. With Michigan ranked number two behind the Buckeyes, the once improbable notion of a rematch is now more than a possibility, it is a probability. This would be a terrible injustice to the rest of the teams playing for a shot at the Buckeyes in Glendale, and the most convincing proof to date that college football needs a playoff.
