For a stretch of years I have been picking the Eagles to win the NFC East. Is it blind loyalty or is it the fact that the Eagles have been playing the role of the top dog in the division for almost as long as Andy Reid has been in town? Call me a homer but the fact is the Eagles have been the best team year in and year out every year in the NFC East, even the disastrous post Super Bowl year they probably had the best talent top to bottom but injuries (and personal conflicts) derailed that season form the start. This year will be no different.

The first week of the 2006-07 NFL Playoffs went mostly as expected. This week promises to be different though, we have four intriguing matchups to watch, each with a different story- line. Can the Patriots and Bill Belicheck keep their championship hopes alive against the red-hot San Diego Super Chargers and stars like LaDanian Thomlinson and Shawn Merriman? Will the improbable run of the Saints continue, or will veteran Jeff Garcia continue to carry Philly? Does the motto, offense sells tickets, defense wins championships apply to the Colts- Ravens clash? Can 'Da Bears' return to early season form and hold of the surging and dangerous Seahawks? Before the weekend and drama arrives, I would like to make some picks.

I'm trying to be optimistic. It's my New Year's Resolution. I look around at the disaster zone that is Philadelphia sports and I say to myself, there HAS to be something positive that I can take from this mess. I MUST find something to put my energy into. So I've made a list of some of the things I'm thankful for in the sporting world of Philadelphia.

For decades now the National sports media has turned the Philadelphia fan into some kind of monster - devoid of a soul. Booing Donovan McNabb on draft day, Fighting with Clinton Portis's Mom, Booing old St.Nick. We've heard em all. Haven't we? That crazy - Eagles fan is at it again. Well I'm here to breakdown what EAGLES fans are really like by giving you the Philadelphia Eagles Demographic Breakdown:

As a service for the Sportscolumn community, I went to the 11:30 AM showing of Invincible today. Who am I kidding, if I wasn't going to write a review for SC, I'd have seen the 2:30 showing anyway. As an Eagles fan, I am obligated to see the movie. What's the population of the Delaware Valley? 6 million people? Multiply by $9... Invincible is guaranteed to bring in at least $50M just from the Philly area alone.

You know, a long time ago, before the blog and site development sucked up all my time, I used to write about 3 columns a week here on SC. Only about one and a half of them were any good. Still, that's a better batting average than Peter King, who manages to suck (mostly Tom Brady) in every single column. Ever since Trevor came out with his sports medley column, I've been meaning to wrestle the title of "Most Random Writer" back from him. So here it is folks, the inaugural Friday Free For All.

He is one of the classiest guys in the NFL.  He's had one of the best winning percentages in the league since he became a starter.   He's one of the superstars of the league. He's the best quarterback in Philadelphia Eagles history. He shrugs off controversy and always says the right thing.  So what's wrong with McNabb?  He just isn't a leader, no matter how many times he tells you he is.
