Jose Canseco's latest desperate attempt to sell books has gone too far. Fans and media alike must stop taking the allegations of individuals such as Canseco as absolute truth.

"I like songs about drifters - books about the same.
They both seem to make me feel a little less insane.
Walked on off to another spot.
I still haven't gotten anywhere that I want."

-Modest Mouse, The World at Large

OK, quiet down for just a second, cease and desist with the anger and indignation. Because I love telling this story, never get tired of it.

It was an unbearably hot afternoon at Yankee Stadium. We're playing Texas, Juan Dominguez on the mound. Alex Rodriguez is at the plate, in the midst of a phenomenal 2005 season, carrying the team.

The 2007 Yankees season is in the books after the disappointing loss in the ALDS against the Indians. To keep the book analogy going, we may have seen the final chapter in the saga that has been the Yankees under Joe Torre, if George Steinbrenner's comments hold true that is. There are many questions to be asked when it comes to where the Yankees go from here.

April baseball may be about as meaningful as the 7th round of the NFL draft (do you really think Ramzee Robinson will have a big impact on the Lions next season?). Still, this opening month of baseball has been quite an eventful one. The Yankees are in last, the Brewers are in first, the Braves have returned, and Barry is back. Here is some hardware for the best (and worst) of April.

Just a few days ago, spring training began in baseball when first the pitchers and catchers then the rest of the players showed up in camp and started to work out for the 2007 season. Great, I'm already excited about the weather getting warmer (gotta love nice spring days on a college campus-girl's shorts get shorter ever year) as well as baseball getting going. But then we get drama worthy of a high school cafeteria out of New York where A-Rod has said his friendship with Derek Jeter has "cooled". Honestly, guys, just can it.

The Smorgasbord

For the past month or so, I've been a little busy trying to elude Stephen Jackson and his posse.  Ever since I threw that beer on one of them in the Bada-Bing strip club, they've been tryin' to bust a cap in my (butt) and chasin' me with Cadillac Escalades.  So, needless to say, I've been a little too busy to write about sports.

What better way to get back in the saddle than with a nice little smorgasbord (yeah, that's how you spell it) of sport?  A good smorgasbord covers all the bases.  That means we're going to need a little of everything, from the basics ("the player" and Blue Lips) to a first in the history of mankind; a sponsor for time.

Pressure busts pipes.  An ESPN Instant Classic in East Lansing defined the difference between rebuilding a fallen program and the pressure of great expectations.

Dear A-Rod,

I am sure you are already well aware, but the frustration level of your performance on the baseball diamond has reached an all time high. I am not here to remind you yet again of your 0-10 performance the last two games in Anaheim, which includes seven strikeouts. Instead, please think of this as a simple form of motivation.

It was just past 11:10 PM EST last night when I was watching Sportscenter, resting after four days and five games of hell (I am a Yankees fan, but those four days were still hell regardless). Given the opportunity, I was tempted not to even stay up for the eleven o'clock Sportscenter, but just listening to Tony Kornheiser was enough to keep me awake longer than expected. And it's a good thing I did because I have a message I'd like to send to Toronto Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons: I love you big man.
