August 2008 Writing Contest and July Winner

First off, congratulations to ScubaSteve for this article Past and Present. Steve wins a $100 gift certificate to Amazon. Runner up was Sportsfan22's column Gone 4-ever? Not so Favre.

The August contest is already underway. Everyone who has an article published is eligible for the contest. Please make sure you vote for your favorite articles at the end of the article by giving it a rating of 1 to 5.

• The Contest begins on the 1st of every month and ends on the last day of that month. (e.g. Aug 1st to Aug 31st). Each month represents a separate "contest".
• Every published story on the site during the month of the contest is eligible, except for Journal Entries. So for the July Contest, any article published between 8/1 and 8/31 is eligible. There is no limit to the number of articles you have in the contest.
• In order to give articles that are published the last week of the month a fair shake, the voting for the month doesn't end until the 7th day of the following month. (e.g. voting for the August Contest ends on September 7th)
• By entering the contest, you agree that the management of Sportscolumn.com has final say in all matters related to the contest. You also warrant that any article submitted by you is your own original work. Any article that violates the copyright of another person or company is ineligible and contest entry will be voided. In addition, any attempts to manipulate the contest will result in a voided entry.

• First Prize: $100 Gift Certificate to Amazon.
• Second Prize: Set of steak knives
• Third Prize: You're fired
