More on: Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers, NFC, NFL (all tags)

If the reports are true, then Favre has already asked to be released from Green Bay. Finally! It's not that I'm happy that the our Star MVP Quarterback is leaving, but at least now another team has to deal with this crap!

Months and months have gone by with everyone asking the same questions,"is he gone?" or,"is he coming back?" These questions and relating speculation have absolutely plagued the Packers this offseason. But now they can relax and take a breath of fresh air.

After all of the BS he put my team through, a question that I have is,"should we retire his jersey and number?" Absolutely we should! But not until he is officially retired of course. The relationship between Favre and The Packers is to strained to have any sort of ceremony in his honor.

The question I have about the market for Favre once the Packers have released him is who wants him,I mean truly wants him? Nobody really! If you look at his numbers the past few seasons, granted he broke records and played very well last season, they haven't been all that great. Mediocre at best. Another question, who's gonna wanna pay him the money he feels he deserves? Al Davis? Jerry Jones? God I hope not!

With Favre gone, the Packers can finally focus on evolving as a young team. Rodgers gets his shot, and if he stays healthy, he's capable of doing what Favre did last season, accuracy and completion wise. In McCarthy's offense, all the Quarterback is required to do is make the short, crisp passes to receivers. The running game will take care of itself, and our defense is gonna be a major threat. Rodgers doesn't have to be the savior or the hero, he just has to do his job, and for heaven's sake, stay healthy!

Then again, maybe they won't release him and he'll have to sit on the bench and figure out what the hell to do!, That'd be funny!
