Welcome to another week of NFL picks. Somehow it's week 3 already. Ryan tries to keep his hot streak going this week while RJ and Vegas Vinny try to bounce back from a 9-7 week. Trevor goes a solid 10-6 again. The whole NFL feels like it's the mid-90s again. Just when you thought you had the NFL figured out, the Lions go 2-0 and the Saints are 0-2. Go figure.

The featured games this week are Niners @ Steelers, Colts @ Texans, Bengals at Seahawks, and the Cowboys at the Bears. You can download the podcast directly (running time 70 mins) or subscribe to the feed.

Locks of the Week

[Editor's Note: This year, we're making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Vegas Vinny: After watching the Panthers in the preseaon, I thought they'd be one of the worst teams in the NFC. They haven't shown me that much in the regular season to change my mind. They beat a bad Rams team but they got smoked at home by the Houston Texans. Still, sometimes it's not about how good a team is but how bad the competition is. And the salve to the Panthers' wounds are the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers defense is absolutely getting no pressure on the quarterback (1 sack, 0 INTs) but they will probably turn that around against the Falcons and Joey Harrington. The Falcons will have to key in on Steve Smith (3TDs last week) so expect Jake Delhomme to find his other receivers and the coaches to give the Falcons a healthy dose of DeAngelo Williams and Deshaun Foster. The Panthers are not a good team but they are at least a touchdown better than the Falcons. I'm going big this week. $165 on the Panthers (-4) to win $150. (Balance = $835)

BostonMac: I really can't believe I am grabbing onto Trevor's coattails here, but I have to admit that he has probably found some kind of odd Vegas loophole with this Titans stuff. After nearly knocking off the defending champs last week (and pulling off a great +7 cover), the Titans are actually getting four points against a highly disappointing Saints team. The Titans have been an ATM for Trevor since last season, and I guess I am going to try to steal his passcode. (Hint: It's probably B-O-S-C-O.) After starting off by hitting on my first two locks, I'm going to put $110 to win $100 on the Titans (+4) against the Saints. (Balance = $1100)

Trevor F : If you are a football gambler and you are missing out on the Tennessee Titan gravy train then you should go kill yourself twice. Coming off another easy cover and almost win against Indianapolis, the Titans are 2-0 this season against the spread, 8-1 over their last 9 games and 11-2 over their last 13 games against the spread. This is rarefied air folks. Never has a team been this hot against the spread. It is absurd at this point. Not as absurd as the oddsmakers making New Orleans 5 point favorites over Tennessee. Not only do I think the Titans will cover on Monday night, they are probably going to get the W. Vince Young is 10-5 as a starter with three of those losses coming to law firm of Manning & Brady. The Titans are probably the biggest sleeper in the AFC and the fact that they are getting 5 points against a team that just got crushed by Tampa Freakin Bay is incredible. Did the oddsmakers miss the Tennessee-Indy game? Are they blind to this hot streak? For a tenth consecutive week, I am pulling the lever on the Titans (+4.5). I don't feel guilty. It's the smart move. $55 to win $50 (Balance = $1100)

RJ Warner: John Kitna and his Lions must be feeling pretty good about his 10-win prediction and their playoff aspirations after their 2-0 start. Donovan McNabb and his Eagles have to be feeling horrible after their lackluster play, an 0-2 start and the recent distractions. Is the Team That Millen Almost Destroyed really that good? Is the Team That Donovan Can't Carry that bad? The answer is no and no. Philly still has a pretty good defense, and they should be able to keep the Lions in check. McNabb is usually a pretty accurate quarterback, so it's strange to see him misfiring against the Redskins that much. I think he'll bounce back and I'll bet $55 that Philly (-6.5) is still a touchdown better than Detroit, no matter how improved they are. (Balance = $995)

Pretty quiet (#1)

Last year this board was full of posts, you could barely get people to shuddup, this year it's like a ghost town.  You can practically hear crickets.

Well, (#2)

where ya at? call into the show, make comments about who you're going to pick and what you agree with and disagree with. Play along! Swear along! We'd love to hear what everyone has to say. And the reason I think you heard crickets is  because Ryan did last week's show from the woods.

The show would be even more fun if you guys (and girls) called in. Don't hate, participate? Maybe? Huh? Huh?

My lock better hit or i will drive to Philly and set something on fire.

Look, I have nothing to hide, I'm a podcast noob.  I've downloaded past podcasts you've done.  How do I get to hear it as it's made (live)?

I like the Bolts big in that one. Parlay them with the Eagles and you can upgrade from the apt. to the penthouse :)

no harm, no foul on the chargers. Nobody else picked the Pack either. This just makes picking every week a little harder because we can't automatically discount Favre and the Packers anymore. Well, at least I can't anymore.

Titans (#10)
by Trevor on Tue Sep 25 2007 at 9:02 AM EST
12-2 over their last 14 against the spread, 9-1 over their last 10 and 3-0 this season.  That is just incredible.  Not having them on the slate for this upcoming week hurts.
