I'm not writing this to argue which guy should go number 1 since the trailblazers have said they will draft Oden but there is just something I don't understand about the arguments between the two.
One of the main reasons people think Oden should go first is because they say to win a championship, you need a dominating big man. That you can't win with a Durant type player. I just do not understand this argument. There have been so many examples of small forwards or guards dominating a game and taking a team on its back. Jordan, Bird, Magic and West are just a few guys who were non-centers that dominated. Now don't get me wrong, I think you need a center that can hold his own in paint to win a championship, I just don't think you need a dominating center to win a championship. Oden is just the easiest and safest pick for the Blazers. If they pick him, which it looks like they will, and he turns out to be a bust or just an okay player it will be okay because most people think that he should be the number 1 pick. If they pick Durant then all the experts will say "I told you so." I would not be suprised if Durant turns out to be the more dominating player and brings a championship to whatever team he goes to. In the end, they both have a chance to dominate in this league and both could win a championship for his team. I don't believe that you can't win a championship with a team that has Durant and a good big man.
