I just heard the impending trade between the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers and I am completely flabbergasted by Chris Mullin's stupidity.  I've said it once and I'll say it again, the Golden State Warriors would be better off with a)putting Billy Beane in charge or b) letting fans vote on trades online at the San Francisco Chronicle's website.

Trading Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod to the Indiana Pacers for Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell is quite possibly the worst trade in NBA history.  If I wasn't sitting in my real job, I would write 10,000 words breaking down every single reason why this trade is absurd.  Baron Davis and Monta Ellis could get caught with two hookers and 75 pounds of weed and it wouldn't be as damaging.

I keep trying to think about why they would do it and it just doesn't make sense.  Does Don Nelson like Al Harrington THAT much?  Last year the Warriors wouldn't trade Troy Murphy straight up for Ron Artest.  Think about that.  Now they just traded him, Dunleavy, AND IKE DIOGU (how does that make sense) for Al Harrington, Jasikevicius AND STEPHEN JACKSON!!!!!!!!  WE GAVE THEM IKE DIOGU AS A THROW-IN TO THE DEAL AND TOOK BACK STEPHEN JACKSON.  STEPHEN JACKSON IS NOW A GOLDEN STATE WARRIOR!!!!  THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

You have to wonder if Larry Bird has pictures of Chris Mullin giving somebody a blow job.  I mean...seriously...how does this trade happen?  If David Stern had a set of cajones, he would veto this trade.

If you are an Indiana Pacer fan.  Congratulations you are now a contender again.  Tinsley, Granger, Dunleavy, Murphy, O'Neal with Diogu off the bench is good enough to get into the top four in the East.

I am done with my rant.  I will now go and leap out of the window of my office.  Thank you and I'll enjoy the flight.

What in the HELL is Golden State doing? This just tells me that they are giving up on the season.

The more I think about this trade the angrier I get.  David Stern should veto this.  If this were anybody's fantasy league and somebody made this trade it would be vetoed.

They still aren't as mismanaged as... (#3)

The Charlotte Bobcats. This is why I started to hate the NBA. I lothe George Shinn as a person, but Bob Johnson makes him look like a free spender. He alerady put out a presser earlier this week saying he's not going to spend a dime in the offseason.

If thats the case, then why not trade Felton, May and the other guys with talent and just disband the team.

Bobcats (#4)

What's sad with that is the Bobcats are going to be a very, very good team in two years.  Their young core of Felton, May, Okafor and Morrison will be the heart and soul of a team that could easily make big inroads in the East.

Bob Johnson has anything to say about it.

He just hired Micheal Jordan to have a scapegoat, but the truth is, he doesn't care about this team at all. He's never been accessable to us in the local media, he just sits in his box. He thinks this is just another corperation.

It's sickening. Johnson needs to sell.

warriors trade (#5)
by Anonymous Fan on Fri Jan 19 2007 at 12:45 AM EST
They get rid of the most hated warrior (Dunleavy), another warrior that really hasn't worked out as hopedd (Murphy), a player who won't fit into Nellie's system, and an ok player who, at best, with some good coaching might become a pretty good player for a hot-head who at times can be one of the better small forwards in basketball (Jackson), Harrington who is a great player and two other ok players. Sounds like a pretty good deal for the Warriors to me.

Jackson (#6)

Jackson is more than a hothead.  He is a ticking time bomb.  You don't take him back in any deal whatsoever.  If you were going to trade a package with Dunleavy, Murphy, and Diogu in it.  You have to do better than Al Harrington and a guy who nobody else in the league would touch.

WHAT?! (#8)
by Anonymous Fan on Fri Jan 19 2007 at 9:51 PM EST
Harrington is a good player better than Dunleavy and Murphy together. Jackson is a good player too when he's not in trouble with the law, which he can manage to stay away from from a while. Just those two players are better than the those Warriors. Yes, Diagu has potential, but he is not working in Nellie's system therefore he is of no use to the Warriors. I have to ask you are you from the bay area, and if you are have you seen Dunleavy play?

Warriors (#9)
by Trevor on Sat Jan 20 2007 at 8:20 AM EST
I am from the Bay Area and I do watch the Warriors.  I am one of the last 18 people who haven't completely abandoned them and started watching college and high school basketball completely.

My point is that you have to get more back.  Yes, Murphy and Dunleavy haven't worked out.  However, Murphy averaged a double-double the last two years prior to this one.  You can say it was a "soft" double-double and I can agree with that.  Still....you traded a guy who will once again flip the switch and average a double-double in Indiana (I guarantee that), Dunleavy who while an underachiever was being dangled for Corey Maggette straight-up and Ike Diogu who I guarantee is going to make us look foolish for trading for Al Harrington and a guy nobody else in the league wanted or would trade for.

Do you even watch the warriors? (#7)
by Anonymous Fan on Fri Jan 19 2007 at 9:48 PM EST
do you any idea how bad dunleavy and murphy are? if steven jackson is a problem, they can just cut him. stop crying. its a great trade for the warriors.

I usually agree with what you say, but Murphy and Dunleavy just weren't cutting it. I'm not so sure about trading away Diogu that'll probably come back to bite the Warriors in the ass, but Jackson and Harrington are solid players and will make the Warriors better.
