"WHAT? 9-5? What the hell happened??"
Yeah, that's what I said when I checked the score of my beloved Dodgers in their extremely important game against the Padres last night. I was bummed figuring we'd have to take the wild card this year instead of the division. But, whatever glimmer of hope I had in me re-surfaced because I decided to watch the end of the game anyway even though I figured it was over, and the Padres lead was up to 1.5 in the West. But then, who woulda thunk? No, really would anyone ever imagine what happened next??? Jon Adkins in to face the heart of the order. First batter: Jeff Kent...gone. Second batter: J.D. Drew...gone. Of course, at this point I have a little bit more confidence, I'm saying hey, we could win this game! But then they bring in the Hoffmeister and I almost turned off the TV because he is automatic. But wait! First pitch to Russell Martin...gone! First pitch to Marlon Anderson...GONE!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? BACK TO BACK TO BACK TO BACK HOME RUNS!!! TIE GAME?? HOLY **! Awww, Padres got a run in the tenth, shoot what a way to waste a comeback. Wait, what's this? Lofton with a leadoff walk? 3-1 on Nomar and then...WHAT???? ANOTHER HOME RUN???? WALK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comeback for the ages...go Dodgers!
