Cory Lidle was killed in the plane that crashed into a Manhattan apartment building this afternoon. He obtained his pilot's license seven months ago and was the only person on board. He was 34 years old.
Lidle was traded with Bobby Abreu from Philly to the Yankees in a deadline deal this season. The week before, at Phillies Meet the Players Day, he was one of the players I talked to and had my picture taken with. I was sad at the trade deadline and devestated now. A class guy on and off the field. God bless his wife and 6-year-old son.
