As we head into the NFL's second season the questions are formulated.  Is this the year for the Colts, can Jake Plumber finally lead win a big game and so on.  What we are missing however, is that there is one team that has left no question unanswered.  The New England Patriots.  They have proven leaders on and off the field in Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck who have dominated the game for nearly half a decade.  When their supposed to win they win, when their supposed to lose they win, this team is unshakeable.  Yeah Manning has the records, and the colts are having their best season ever, but they are not winners.

Tom Brady said that the Patriots havent been getting respect that they deserve this year which brought about alot of criticism.  They respond by going out and crushing a 12 win jaguar team 28-3 and silencing all their critics.  Despite a depleted defense that was riddled by injuries throughout the season including pro bowl corner Rodney Harrison, Tom Brady has his best season as a pro and the Patriots are AFC east champs.  Unlike the Jets who tanked after suffering injuries, the patriots made no excuses shut their mouths and played football.

In an era where the storylines are dominated by goons like Terrell Owens whining like a baby about not making that extra million, the Patriots are the exception.  They dont put  up with nonsence from their players and will not keep a player around just to keep him happy, as they showed when they breifly cut Troy Brown a long time patriot wide reciever.  This is why they win.  No player is bigger than the team, and no player is owed anything.

If Tom Brady were to cling to a fading career late in his career like a washed up Brett Favre, he would get cut, and that is how it should be.  The Patriots wouldnt go down with the ship to let Tom Brady get pub, they would bring in new guys who could play.

As for those who will say that the patriots were beaten at home by the colts in the regular season, and that they are the team to beat, I say thats ridicolous.  The Steelers thrashed the patriots in the regular season last year only to have them return the favor in the AFC championship.  Patriot fans should make their travel plans for detroit and get that day off from work soon after for the championship parade

they are an incredible team. its great to see a dynasty in a salary cup sport unlike seeing disgusting payrolls (205 million a year yankees) that start unfair dynasties. even though its fun to root against a constant winner (i.e. rooting for the usc streak to end when vince young had the ball to win the rose bowl), its hard to root against the patriots because there's nothing wrong with them.
