1(1)
58-19
The Suns have kept the number 1 spot based on their season long dominance of likewise dominant teams (minus San Antonio). They should stay here, unless Nash goes out again.
2(6)
46-31
21-0 since late February (minus 2 losses to Phoenix). That equals the number 2 spot on the Power Rankings.
3(2)
56-21
Shaq is out with his annual pre postseason "injury". Not like it matters, they'll get all the continuity they need by swamping their 1st round opponent.
4(4)
53-24
The Mavs have pretty much locked up that 4 spot in the West. With their 3 regular season wins against the Kings, they are hoping for the Kings to keep number 5.
5(5)
50-27
With a possible 1st round matchup vs. the Cavs, don't expect the Pistons to show all their cards when Cleveland comes to town on Sunday.
6(3)
57-20
Their 131 point average during their last 2 games offsets their 79 point average during the previous 2. However, they haven't beaten a playoff possible team since March. That's why they are number 6.
7(8)
44-33
Pop the champagne, the Bulls are in the playoffs for the 1st time since 23 was running things. A 1st round victory will guarantee some Chicago riots.
8(9)
47-31
Keep an eye on T-Mac's body language. They don't want the 5 seed. Who would you rather play, Seattle or Dallas? They should win just enough to stay above Denver.
9(13)
48-30
Sacramento is gearing up for another playoff series against the Mavericks this year. Now that Peja is starting to catch fire, that series could be the best yet.
10(11)
42-35
Ok I've neglected this for awhile, but Rick Carlisle is also a legitimate coach of the year candidate. I heard a rumor that he coached an all girls squad to a city championship over the summer. Not impressed? The girls played in the boys league.
11(17)
31-47
If playoff seeds were given out based on how well the teams are playing in March and April, the Warriors would be in. They would be in as a 5 seed.
12(7)
50-27
Seattle is the coldest playoff team right now. They are being chased by the hottest team (Denver). If Seattle and Denver continue on their same paths, Denver will win the Northwest division by a game.
13(14)
41-35
Looks like Boston put it in cruise control a little to early. Philly is right behind them and are definitely eyeing that division (and subsequent 3 seed). With 4 of their remaining 6 games on the road and a slim 2 game lead over Philly, Boston better be careful.
14(17)
38-39
Remember when there were no teams above .500 in the Atlantic? With 2 straight wins the Nets will be the 3rd .
15(18)
39-37
Iverson continues to will the Sixers to the playoffs. The bad thing is that they are fighting to play Miami or Detroit.
16(15)
44-33
Is it just me or does a Phoenix-Memphis 1st round series sound pretty good. Sorry Minnesota.
17(10)
40-37
For a team trying to make the playoffs, losing to the Hawks is not going to cut it. Maybe next year Minnesota.
18(16)
40-37
I am thinking about changing the picture of this team to Lebron. With nobody else on his team playing any basketball, Lebron is gonna carry this team as far he can. Don't expect it to stop in the playoffs.
19(12)
42-35
Washington needs to win out, if they wanna have a chance to get to the 2nd round. Based on their on their 26-12 home record and a road record that looks like puppy chow, they need that 4 seed.
The only reason the Clips are below the Lakers is because their only recent win was against the lowly Bobcats. At least the Lakers won in Seattle.
22(20)
35-42
Grant Hill being out shouldn't diminish his Comeback player of the year award. As a matter of fact, the NBA should model the trophy after him.
23(23)
29-48
The spoiler campaign continues. Except they aren't beating any playoff teams.
24(25)
30-46
The Knicks would rather pull the feeding tube on this season and begin their off-season extreme makeover early.
25(24)
31-46
Vince is coming back to town on Friday. This is the Raptors lone playoff game.
26(28)
24-56
With wins over the Hornets and Blazers, you can actually see ping pong balls being taken out of their pockets.
27(29)
25-51
Well at least nobody has gotten in trouble in awhile. I mean, I haven't heard anything.
28(27)
16-61
At this point the Bobcats are just trying to get Okafor Rookie of the year, instead of trying to win meaningless games.
29(26)
18-58
19 year old J.R. Smith is eagerly anticipating a running mate in this year's draft. He may be the teams franchise player for years to come. His point production has increased month to month from 3ppg in Nov. to 4ppg to 8ppg to 14ppg to 16 ppg in March.
30(30)
12-65
With a loss at Charlotte Wednesday night, the Hawks can clinch the most ping pong balls in this years draft lottery.
