Carlos Boozer an Olympian (sigh)

Well. We've hit rock bottom. I can live with the US Soccer team not making the Olympics because they aren't good enough. I can live with...

...our Synchronize swimming team not being able to compete with the brilliant synchronicity of the Russians. What I cannot live with is Carlos Freaking Boozer being on the United States Olympic team.

Boozer is a tough, rugged and talented ballplayer to be sure. He's a solid NBA player who looks real nice in the Cleveland Cavalier lineup. But is he any better than say Theo Ratliff? Kurt Thomas? Nene? Not really.

But that's not even the point. The point is that this is the damn UNITED STATES OLYMPIC TEAM!!!! This is where the greatest athletes our Country has to offer come to together and play basketball at the highest level possible.

I can go on and on about the travesty that is the NBA and the players spurring their National Duty to our Country by playing on the team. Do these guys have any pride? Man. Allen Iverson looks like a saint at this point.

However, to put Carlos Boozer on the team is just embarassing. Carlos Boozer? Just quit. Throw our college/high school players back in the game. This was setup to be guys like Barkley, Jordan, Bird, Iverson, Shaq, Kobe, McGrady, Kidd etc.

Carlos Boozer is now on the team? What in Sam Hill is going on? Man alive.

I think I'm rooting for Pepe Sanchez's team or Manu Ginobli. At least these guys care.

After the first Dream Team, we should've just sent college players to subsequent olympics.  Basically with the Dream Team, we just wanted to prove that the US was still tops in basketball.  Not only the best but completely dominant.    

Then, we had to embarrass ourselves at the World Championships (?).  Now our top pros dont want to play and the public cares even less.

Clearly the superstars at the top of their game are bailing left and right this year.  So go for the young emerging stars-Lebron was added months ago.  But Boozer over Carmelo?!?  Dwayne Wade deserves to go before Boozer, which may still happen.

Why not add Darko Milicic while you're at it.
