Why am I calling this The Revolution? Because Sportscolumn.com was built to tear down all the pre-established rules of what sports journalism should be. As an avid (and rabid) sports fan, I just can't get enough. I love the commentary. I love the highlights. I love the debates on sports talk radio. But what bothered me was that the people who deliver the commentary, who direct the talk on sports radio, who write all the columns we read, seldom know any more than die-hard knowledgeable fans. In fact they're often just flat out wrong. The Revolution doesn't want to hear anymore from "professional" columnists who seem intent on only tallying up word counts and writing columns so ludicrous as to beg to be emailed around in disbelief. Sportscolumn knows that there are thousands of "amateur" sportswriters out there that could build a better following than any of these nationally known hacks.
So, even if you have no aspirations of being a sports writer, sign up for an account. Your vote on the submitted articles will help build a better website for everyone. For those of you who just want to discuss sports in a traditional message board setting, forums.sportscolumn.com is available as well. Please note that the message boards and the main site are running on two different systems so the username and passwords are not shared between the two. I am working on merging them in the future but for now, make sure you sign up for both. The process is absolutely painless.
Finally, SC is advertising driven but we promise never to overwhelm the site with so much advertising that it becomes one big billboard. We'll do just enough to pay the bills. Also, we respect your privacy so we will never give out your email or any other information to advertisers. Have fun. Viva La Revolution!
