[College] Hype in Huggieville

Differing opinions. What else would you expect in March? Some believe that the Kansas State Wildcats have already punched their ticket to "The Dance", while others (so-called experts) believe otherwise. Whether it is the NIT or the NCAA Tournament, K-State fans have a reason to smile. Finally.
After the fall of the K-State basketball program and the emergence of the football team, things have switched back to the way they originally were. The Wildcat football team showed glimpses of their old self under highly-touted freshman quarterback Josh Freeman, who led the team to the Texas Bowl where they were promptly blasted by "America's Team"- Rutgers, but the program doesn't seem promising under Ron Prince. As things turned to the hardwood though, and as excitement blossomed on the Manhattan campus with the arrival of the Bob Huggins regime, this team has done what no one saw coming.

The first week of the 2006-07 NFL Playoffs went mostly as expected. This week promises to be different though, we have four intriguing matchups to watch, each with a different story- line. Can the Patriots and Bill Belicheck keep their championship hopes alive against the red-hot San Diego Super Chargers and stars like LaDanian Thomlinson and Shawn Merriman? Will the improbable run of the Saints continue, or will veteran Jeff Garcia continue to carry Philly? Does the motto, offense sells tickets, defense wins championships apply to the Colts- Ravens clash? Can 'Da Bears' return to early season form and hold of the surging and dangerous Seahawks? Before the weekend and drama arrives, I would like to make some picks.

In a era when computers decide who gets the right to play for the national championship and coaches or the press do not have a say, it might be time to avoid the commontion and controversy and switch to an easier system, one that would ensure that the national champion was truly the best team in all of college football.
