While I somewhat agree that gambling has no place in any sport, I think that as long as you don't affect the outcome of the game, it really shouldn't matter. Your point on Pete Rose is valid - he had the chance to change the rotation, make calls, etc that could influence the game. But as long as Lenny wasn't betting AGAINST the Phils, I forgive him.
Do you know the Chappeles Show where he is being interviewed for jury duty? When it came to the selection for Michael Jackson, he said, "the man made THRILLER. Thriller." I feel the same way about Lenny. He was part of the 93 Phils. The 93 Phils.
It's funny you mention Canterbury Tales. It's one of two books I refused to read in HS (the other being Scarlett Letter) because I realized it offered no redeeming value. The Cliffs Notes were just fine by me. And look at me now! I read Jose Canseco! Hot damn!
I bet on golf when I'm playing it all the time. Doesn't mean I don't play as hard. I still suck but that's besides the point.
By the way, this is why The Incredibles was such a good movie: "If everyone is Super, then no one is". [ Parent ]
