"The NFL has undoubtedly replaced archaic Major League Baseball as the premier sports league not only in the United States, but throughout the world."

Throughout the world?  I think you've got the wrong football.

The article is supposed to be from the "persona" of a football team, trying to persuade its argument that they are #1.  When I wrote that the NFL was the most popular in the world, it was basically hyperbole coming from the mouth of a personified NFL franchise to prove its point.

Just trying some new experiments with voice, point of view, etc.  Don't get all rattled; I realize that "soccer" is the most popular sport in the world.
