how can you write this article (#4)

without one single mention of the Daisuke Matsuzaka saga that happened earler this winter? Paying $50 million just for the rights to negotiate sets a much more dangerous precedent than one old man (Clemens) ripping off another (Steinbrenner).

I do agree that Clemens' contract shouldn't have that travel clause. I'm not saying it should be Clemens' responsibility to tutor the young guys like you are (that's what coaches are for)But there's more to being on a team than just going out to pitch every five days. I just agree that other players might want the same clause in the future.

are you retarded? matsuzaka was under contract with another team in another league. the other team did not have to allow him to speak with other team.

also, that fee really was a fee to sign him. had boston not come to an agreement, they $50m would have been refunded.

these situations are not even closely related. in fact, the only similarity is that they both involve nl east teams. you're making a gigantic stretch to call it a requirement to include something about matsuzaka. in fact, it's a stretch to even include it at all. the author was right to ignore the situation and focus solely on clemens.
