I Understand but would like to argue this... (#6)

  1. Not your fault, it wasn't out when you wrote the column, but Liriano is headed to the DL

  2. Yankees were not that great against the Devil Rays last year for example, 8-11. I just don't feel that that argument is valid, even though it was a very bad series.

  3. I believe we can help the bullpen by giving Papelbon longer roles, maybe giving him opportunities for 2 or 3 innings saves in big situations. He is a starter, let's use the stamina.

  4. Craig Hansen could be used better in shorter roles and has been very good when pitching an inning or less, except for that last appearance in Tampa. He has allowed a grand total of 7 ER in his 15 appearances that have lasted an inning or less, and 3 of those came in that one game.

I cannot say I am optimistic about winning the division with the Yanks new improvements, but with the White Sox struggles and Liriano's injury, I can see the Sox making it on the Wild Card. Yes, even if Jason Johnson is the worst pitcher in the Majors.

it's never over, but... (#8)

you make somegood counter-arguments. But I think Hansen has been figured out. He coughed up yet another lead last night, this time to the Royals. I can't believe they've lost three in a row to Tampa Bay and Kansas City.

The Yankees series coming up in Fenway will tell a lot.
