steroids is cheating. But its like nietzche said, if everyone is guilty, then no one is guilty. Granted everyone isnt doing steroids, but enough for it to have been thoroughly weaved into the framework of the game.
I just cant get my head around gambling on your own team if only for the psychological implications that it means you're not playing baseball FOR baseball. You have something else to gain out of the game, beyond a paycheck. I guess I like to think everyone on the field is thinking about nothing but winning and playing, rather than the point spread. Idealistic I know.
Ah what can you do. As a yank fan, I have bigger fish to fry right now.

what? are you going to bet on George's horse in the derby?

I bet on golf when I'm playing it all the time.  Doesn't mean I don't play as hard.  I still suck but that's besides the point.

By the way, this is why The Incredibles was such a good movie: "If everyone is Super, then no one is".

i mean i can't concentrate on the greater MLB when the yankees throw me into a tailspin every night.
me, I can't bet on sports that I'm playing for the same reason I never bet on the Yankees: you lose, it's doubly aggravating. And I can't focus as well on the game because of this.
i think it's different you betting on your golf game though because no one's invested $ into you for spectator purposes (as far as I know.)
I get what you're saying though, realize I dont mind steroids as much because I dont think its effects hurt the dynamic of the game as much as gambling, because there will always be a "steroids" equivalent that makes some stats inflated.
