During an interview immediately following his World Series victory with the Yankees, Boggs gave made a live, televised statement to a reporter---viewed by millions, of course---that he was happy to be in New York, that it was the right place, and that for "years" he was in the "wrong place."  Pay close attention to the quotes, sir.  That's Wade Boggs VERBATIM.  

So you're right, we won't remember him as fondly as other Red Sox greats.  For that reason and all the others you listed.
