Shut Up

By Billy Fellin

Just a few days ago, spring training began in baseball when first the pitchers and catchers then the rest of the players showed up in camp and started to work out for the 2007 season. Great, I’m already excited about the weather getting warmer (gotta love nice spring days on a college campus-girl’s shorts get shorter ever year) as well as baseball getting going. But then we get drama worthy of a high school cafeteria out of New York where A-Rod has said his friendship with Derek Jeter has “cooled”. Honestly, guys, just can it.

Good Luck or Good Night

By Billy Fellin

Mr. Edward R. Murrow, a famous CBS newscaster who brought Joseph McCarthy to his knees in the Red Scare of the 50’s always signed off by saying “Good Night, and Good Luck”, hence the movie bearing this phrase as it’s title.  Flip it around and you have yourself a good playoff slogan for twelve teams vying for the Lombardi Trophy. In this article, let’s focus on the New York Giants.

In A New York Minute

By Billy Fellin

First off, I would like to give a hearty hey in my first article back here on Sportscolumn. College is crazy, and it’s a lot of fun, too bad the classes get in the way. But I am back and woe-weary of the New York Giants. My head is spinning at how fast downhill the Giants have gone. Eli’s confidence is shot, there is discord in the locker room and players are making stupid mistakes. But does this team still have a shot in the NFC?

Another One Bites the Dust

By Billy Fellin

The New York Yankees and other prestigious members of the New York hierarchy were across the street from Yankee Stadium on Tuesday around a loosened pile of dirt. All donning Yankee hardhats, they broke ground on the $1.2 billion stadium that will be completed and ready for the team to move into in 2009.

So what does this mean for baseball? Just as the title says, another great stadium bites the dust.

As another season is on the horizon over the swamps of Jersey, the Giants are poised to make a run into the playoffs in arguably the toughest division in all of football.

My life as a ‘Canes fan

Living in a non-hockey town is rough. Living in a non-hockey town when your favorite team is one game away from clinching its’ first ever Stanley Cup is killer.

"Pride- Power- Pinstripes"

By Billy Fellin

The 2006 New York Yankees stumbled out to the game, posting a 7-8 record as of last night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. So why are the Yankees 4th in the East and a game under .500? I think I know why.

One Step Closer

By Billy Fellin

This title of a popular Linkin Park song is exactly where baseball and Barry Bonds are. A few years ago, all anyone could talk about is how the games would go down between the Yankees and Red Sox. Now steroids rule the cooler talk of the sports channels of the world, and I believe that it is ruining the sport. In case anyone has been missing that.

Mighty No More

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks have announced that they will be dropping the “Mighty” from their name for the 2006-2007 season. So why does that matter?

Not So Fast

Yes Eli Manning had a bad game against the Panthers. Actually, he had a really bad game, throwing three interceptions and loosing a fumble in the Panther’s domination of the Big Blue. But don’t jump on Eli’s back just yet.
