Last week, Trevor won the week by picking 13 out of 16 games correctly and hitting his lock of the week. This week we’ll see if anyone can overtake BostonMac for the overall picks lead. On the podcast, we talk some baseball free agency, Plaxico, and Sean Avery’s sloppy seconds.

Locks of the Week

[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. Vegas Vinny: Did you see the last Giants vs Eagles game? The Giants bullied the Eagles and ran at will against them. They racked up 219 yards on the ground and could have had 300 if they hadn’t wanted to establish some sort of balance in the run pass ratio (hey, how’s that for a novel idea, Andy Reid?) Anyway, in the past few weeks the the Giants have gotten stronger while the Eagles have fallen flat on their faces. I think the only reason this is a less than a touchdown spread is because of the beatdown the Eagles put on the Cardinals on turkey day and the possibility of the distraction that is Plaxico Burress. But the Giants proved last week that they aren’t distracted by Burress when they went out and took it to the Redskins.

The Eagles are no match for the Giants at the Meadowlands. I expected this to be more of a 8.5 9 point spread but if Vegas is gonna let you give only 6.5 pts, take it and run. I’ll put $110 to win $100 on the Giants (-6.5) over the Eagles. (Balance= $895)

BostonMac: I’m hopping back on the Falcons bandwagon just in time for a playoff push! Amazingly, if the season ended today, Atlanta would be in the playoffs and would bounce out the Cowboys on tiebreakers. The Saints are pretty much done with the playoff race at 6-6 and in last place in the NFC South, and since either the Bucs or the Panthers will lose this week, a Falcons win puts them squarely in the drivers’ seat to claim one of the wild card spots or even a division title. Matt Ryan and Michael Turner lead the Falcons to another surprising win in a special season. Take the points and I’ll put $55 to win $50 on ATLANTA (+3).
(Balance = $1235)

Trevor F: I am going to take the Atlanta Falcons and the 3 points and roll the
dice. They might be the most underrated team in football as it seems like
week in and week out they are underdogs or barely favored against teams
who they have a better record than. The Falcons are the team that is
truly in the midst of a playoff race and I think they get a crucial win
over New Orleans. The Falcons have a much better defense than New Orleans
and should run the ball enough to keep Drew Brees and the explosive Saints
offense off the field. $55 to win $50 on Falcons (-3). (Balance = $1395)

RJ: The Jags are a done deal. They were embarrassed in Houston on Monday night, Rashean Mathis, their best defensive player, is out for the year, and coach Jack Del Rio looks like a blazing, soon-to-be-unemployed idiot in his shirt/tie/leather jacket combo. The Bears (-6.5) are fighting for a playoff spot, play well at home and will wear down the depleted, deflated and demoralized Jag-u-ars. 55/50 if I have it.

I also like the Eagles to cover that 6.5 against the giants. McNabb got some confidence back last week, it’s a division rivalry game with a desperate Eagles team with their playoff hopes on fumes. Don’t rule out the possibility a slightly coasting, definitely distracted Giants team. I think the Eagles can stay with the Giants and possibly pull an upset. They’ll at least make it close. (Balance = $100)
