Locks of the Week

[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Vegas Vinny: The Titans played a substandard game last week and still managed to pull out a win. Tennessee is not talented enough to run the table this year but this isn’t the week the undefeated train comes to a halt. With the status of Kyle Orton uncertain (and really, how sad is it that anyone cares about Kyle Orton’s status?) the Bears are not the team to take down the Titans, even at home. The Titans will key on the running game of the Bears and keep them down all game long. This is going to be one long boring affair if you like offense. I’ll put $110 on the Titans (-3) to win. Prediction: Titans 8 Bears 3. (Balance= $915)

BostonMac: I’m going to go with the hot team with the hot running back and the hot quarterback. No, I’m not talking about Tom Brady, source of the denial of homosexuality by 85% of New Englanders that was referenced by me and Vin on this week’s podcast. Instead, I’m talking about Matt Ryan, who is not only making his obvious case for NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year but is angling for a Pro Bowl spot in his rookie season. The Falcons rolled into the Black Hole last week and shut out Oakland despite the 72-hour tailgating spree of Raider Nation. The Saints are recovering from their sojourn to London, and will be without Reggie Bush, among others. Injuries have plagued the Saints all year, and despite the otherworldly season being turned in by Drew Brees, they haven’t yet been able to establish any consistency in any phase of the game. With the Falcons only giving one point at home, this is a no-brainer if you like money. I’ll put $110 to win $100 on ATLANTA (-1). (Balance = $1045)

Trevor F: I like Atlanta at home right now against New Orleans in a game that is
rated as a pick’em. The Falcons might be the most underrated team in the
NFC and I think they have enough to be the glitzier Saints at home. Matt
Ryan should win Rookie of the Year and he has been outstandng. (Balance = $1300)

RJ: Panthers (-9) over the Raiders. I’m going with a Reverse Trevor from now on: Instead of locking into a good team like the Titans, I’ll go against the worst, most gutless team in the league, the Raiders. $110 to win 100 (Balance = $440)
