Locks of the Week

[Editor’s Note: This year, we’re making the Locks of the Week a little more interesting as we have a side bet amongst the four experts. The person with the most money at the end of the year in Locks betting takes home all the money. Disclaimer: The amounts discussed are for illustrative and entertainment purposes only. Vegas Vinny: The extra half point almost made me back away from this game but then I remembered that the Bills rolled over like a bunch of little bitches last week against New England and I realized this was the right play. Marshawn Lynch is the only hope the Bills have of winning a game and he is unlikely to play as of press time. The Jaguars #3 ranekd rushing attack will be able to control the clock and take advantage of the mediocre Bills defense. David Garrard is not going to set any passing records in his lifetime but when Taylor and Jones-Drew soften up that defense for him, he’ll be able to have a very effective day and get into the endzone once or twice. I like the Jaguars (-7.5) to win by double digits in this game. (Balance = $900)

BostonMac: I can’t believe I’m doing it again but I’m taking the Oakland Raiders as my lock. I refuse to believe the Raiders are as bad a team as their results have indicated, and any time a shitty team is getting 5.5 points against another shitty team, I’m tempted to take them as my lock. I do think the Chiefs are going to win the game, but I don’t think they’re good enough to beat the Raiders by a touchdown. Hell, there might not even be a touchdown scored in this game. If it ends in a 0-0 tie, I’ll win my money. Let’s root for that and get the hell out of there with a profit because this game stinks. I’ll take OAKLAND (+5.5) over the Chiefs. (Balance = $1020)

Trevor F: The Titans being a pick’em in the Bengals game is ridiculous. They will
bounce back in a big way against the sad sack Bengals. They are not
nearly as bad as they looked in that game on Monday night. Take the
Titans (-1) and feel good about it. $55 to win $50. (Balance = $1185)

Billy Fellin: This week my lock comes in an NFC showdown between the Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I’m taking the Bucs on this one because I think that they finally showing up to the party and are out to prove that they are the team to beat in the NFC South (though if you think about it, who else is there?) The Redskins will probably be minus Sean Taylor again and just as it hurt them in their attempt to beat the Cowboys, it will hurt them again this week against the Bucs. I’ll take the Bucs (-3), puttin’ down $55 to win $50 (Balance = $995)
