The Playoffs are a Cherry on Top

The National Football League playoffs give football fans a little bit of everything.  Whether it be a botched snap on a field goal that would win the game, a game winning field goal, or driving down the length of a football field to win a game.  This is the best time of the year for football fans, regardless if your team is in or out.
Every football fan has to appreciate Peyton Manning leading his offense down the field, with little time, away from Indianapolis.  I hate the Colts, but I realize how long the team has to practice to even advance the ball, let alone scoring points on the drive.  Give Manning a couple timeouts and maybe a minute left on the clock, most likely the defense will not be able to hold.

Or Tom Brady who can do the exact same thing.  But he gets more people involved, so the Patriots could possibly have a BETTER late game attack than their rivals.  How is a defense, whether it be Chicago or Cleveland, going to prevent Brady from giving it to one of his amazing running backs, or deflecting a throw to his vast array of receivers?  The answer is you won’t.  Just ask Marty Schottenheimer and the Chargers.

And speaking of the Chargers, is there any other player you would rather have on your team than LaDanian Tomlinson.  Let’s ignore the two day tantrum about the Pats `disrespecting’ the Chargers and their home field.  Lets analyze how great of a back he is.  LT will be a hall of famer one day.  He will have most, if not all of the major rushing records.  He already has a few, just look at his touchdown production this year.  He averaged just under two touchdowns a game.  Terrell Owens is even wondering how a player can keep his cool all the time.

Of the many stories this year, Terrell Owens may be the most intriguing.  With his banter about not getting the ball (even thought he will more than likely drop it), his sleeping in team meetings, and even attempted suicide have accounted for 50% of the news surrounding the NFL.  Terrell Owens is good for news.  Too bad he is not good at what gets him in the news.

The Cincinnati Bengals are a favorite of mine.  The leaders on the team are who you would like to have.  Carson Palmer is a class act, as is the lead role in his supporting cast, Rudi Johnson.  Chad Johnson loves to live life, but when a game is going on, who is more focused?  Everyone can talk bad because of the arrests, and with good reason.  But the people that get arrested do their job just fine.  I mean when they are able to do their job.  Cincinnati will be back next year, and that included Odell Thurman.

Cleveland fans, whether you like it or not, your team will be bad.  You are very loyal to your team.  It is beyond me why you are, but you still are loyal nonetheless.  There should be a law that says the only thing good that can happen to the Cleveland Browns, is that they get a GOOD draft pick year after year.  And this happens.  But year after year they pick someone that can not help their team under any circumstances.  But the fans is Cleveland just like to watch football, even if their team doesn’t know how to play it.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the NFL is better than the NBA, and Roger Goodell is already a better commissioner than David Stern will ever be.

Jeff Garcia is alive, in case anyone was wondering.  The proof is that he led the Philadelphia Eagles to six straight wins, and was a field goal away from possibly making it seven straight.  In that time he also had 1,300 yards passing which includes 10 touchdowns.  He wants to stay an Eagle, even if it means taking his original role as a backup.  My thoughts?  He will be back in Detroit, and will have a new receiver to throw to (Calvin Johnson.)  Don’t worry Lion fans, I was just kidding.

Is there a better system in any other sports to crown their champion, besides the NFL.  No, the system is just perfect.  It guarantees the best teams are in.  Not like the NBA where half the league gets in. The conference champions, plus two wildcards.  Not to little, like Major League Baseball, just right.  Now we are down to the Final Four.  Or if you don’t want me to steal NCAA Basketball’s thunder, I will call it to Football Four.  That fits since NCAA College Football won’t have a “Football Four’ for a couple of years.  But that is fine with me, because the NFL Playoffs are here.

I believe Super Bowl XLI will be between the Patriots, and Bears.  The Saints are a good story, but their time is up.  The Bears are the best NFC team, and if Grossman isn’t beating himself up they will win the conference championship easily.

The Patriots own the Colts.  Enough said.
When you have time, think about how wonderful football is.  We dedicate quite a few hours to watch it.  We enjoy.  The player enjoy it.  It is a win-win situation.  Watch the playoffs!
