Week 15 NFL Power Rankings

What the hell is going on in the NFC West? I was tempted to put that entire division in the cellar. It’s not who plays the best down the stretch, it’s who doesn’t completely stink up the joint that will win that division. At least the NFC Central and the Wild Card races are intriguing. I tried to put everyone based on where they’d end up in their respective conferences. The only exception is Buffalo who I think is a better team than Jax and Baltimore but trail (and will trail) them in the conference.

Well, here we go with the Week 15 Rankings.

Rank (Pv) Team Record Comment
(1) 13-1 They were actually pushed by the Giants of all people but Ben was able to outduel Eli when it counted.
(3) 13-1 The question is, does Andy Reid win the next two game for the team’s pysche or rest the starters for the playoffs?
(2) 12-2 Losing to the Dolphins with their ugly unis on Monday Night has got to be the lowpoint in almost two years. And I thought Brady was supposed to be infallible?
(4) 11-3 I said last week that playing Baltimore on national TV would be tough. San Diego is no picnic either.
(5) 11-3 San Diego is in a position to get a first round bye if NE falters. But first things first- stopping Peyton Manning.
(6) 11-3 Some of Vick’s scrambling plays are breathtaking but a lot are just negative yardage. He’s Randall Cunningham with a better offensive line.
(7) 10-4 Nice bounce back whooping of the Seahawks. They could be a nice dark horse in the playoffs.
(8) 8-6 I was criticized for ranking them too high. Seems to me they’re just where they belong.
(12) 8-6 Jacksonville went into Green Bay and beat them in the (redundant) Frozen Tundra? Holy crap, this hasn’t happened since… oh, I guess when Atlanta did it in the playoffs two years ago.
(15) 8-6 Big showdown this Friday. The reason Minny is ranked above Green Bay is because they should win that game.
(9) 8-6 Mr X says that Green Bay might never recover from the whipping in Philly. I think he’s right.
(12) 8-6 Loss puts them within spitting distance of Buffalo and Denver for the last wild card spot but…
(10) 8-6 This Denver team looks like it’s about given up. Anyone thinking about who replaces Shanny in Denver?
(14) 6-8 Frankly, they looked pretty good in the loss to Atlanta and could beat if they meet in the playoffs. Jake Delhomme made a dumb dumb mistake.
(13) 7-7 They keep trying but they can’t even give away the division.
(19) 6-8 They are slowly climbing back to .500. And considering their start, going 8-8 would be a pretty decent coaching job by The Cryer.
(21) 6-8 Another southern team wins in a cold city. If this becomes a trend, my vegas picks will all go to hell.
(16) 6-8 I have to wonder whether Kitna would have taken them to the playoffs this year.
(17) 5-8 Remember when Mike Martz said they’d make the playoffs? They almost made him look smart… and that’s hard to do.
(23) 6-8 I realize they just beat TB (and have a better record) but I’d take TB in any 5 or 7 game series format.
(32) 5-9 After spending a week at the bottom, I moved them back up with a big win vs a division rival. Could still win the division with a 7-9 record!
(18) 6-8 You’d think winning the division was like getting the plague the way the Rams are approaching it. FireMikeMartz.com still available.
(24) 5-9 Washington is playing better ball recently but too little too late. Don’t worry, Redskins fans will still drink the kool aid before next season.
(26) 5-9 Oakland fans are wondering why the team is screwing up their draft position.
(20) 5-9 Hey Don Mulbach, did you get that gift basket from Mike Tice yet?
(25) 5-9 So much for that Dallas resurgence. Maybe Parcells needs to put in some more Jap plays.
(22) 5-9 I guess there’s a reason Chad Hutchinson was out of the NFL.
(29) 5-9 Eli Manning finally shows some signs of why the media is so in love with him. I’m still not buying it though.
(28) 4-10 Where the hell did Drew Bennett come from? And maybe Billy Volek could be the starter next year. He’s not a winner but he throws for a lot of yards. That’s what counts right?
(30) 3-11 That was their Super Bowl right there on MNF.
(29) 3-10 The McCown brothers might be the worst ever in the NFL. Good thing the Hasselbecks have Matt or they’d be in contention.
(31) 2-12 Only satisfaction SF fans have had in a long long time is the injury to TO. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
