Disrespect

It seems that there is currently nothing in the world more egregious than being disrespected.  I have two random stories today on being dissed…er..yo.  First comes Larry Bird who, in an interview with Jim “Bait” Gray, admitted that he hated getting defended by white guys.  He felt it was disrespectful to him because the white guy had no chance. (The suggestion of “disrespect” was contributed by Magic Johnson, who still thought he was doing a talk show.) Apparently, even Basketball Jesus felt white guys couldn’t play defense.

Remember when Iverson caught flak for whispering in Stockton’s ear, “no f’ing white boy can guard me!”  Malone went nuts.  I wonder what the mailman will have to say about Larry Legend. I wonder if anyone will have anything to say. The second is much better.  From Can’t Stop the Bleeding comes this link to an ebay auction from parents who are selling their son’s PS2 for punishment.  He apparently broke a bugle and snuck some beer and wine. I thought it was a smart idea until I read this little excerpt at the bottom:

SO I AM MINUS ABOUT $177 FOR THIS WEEKEND LITTLE ANTICS.  NOT TO MENTION THE AGGRAVATION OF THE ARUGING, LYING AND DECEPTION. I AM NOT GOING TO PUT UP WITH THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR FROM A CHILD. EVEN A 6’3″ 13 YEAR OR ANY ONE WHO DISRESPECTS ME & MY STUFF.

I AM SELLING THOS PRIZE possession TO RECOOP WHAT I LOST.

I am so embarrassed for this kid. Hey parental unit, sometimes you have to earn respect.  Learning how to spell is among the first things I’d teach my kid if I were you.  But I’d get someone else to do it for me.

Pssst. Hey Bird. Hey crazy parent. Sometimes people just do things because that’s what they do. It’s not always a sign of disrespect. I never figured Bird would need something like that to motivate him.  Sometimes coaches have to send in a white guy to guard you.  There are only so many players on a team.  Would you have felt better if the white guy was Jason Williams or Mike Bibby?  What? Oh.. my bad.

Sometimes a kid will try to sneak some alcohol.  It’s part of being a teenager.  It doesn’t mean your kid doesn’t respect you.  It just means you’re a shitty parent.

Finally, I feel completely disrespected that my boss made me come into work today.  Work! We talking about work!  This ain’t life. It’s work! And to top it off, he just stole my stapler.

Sure kids drink but his punishment is losing his PS2. End of story.

The parent might be wack jobs but punishment is punishment and recouping the cost is part of that.

oh absolutely he should be punished.  I just think the parents were huge nutcases. Mine wouldve just locked my PS2 (or Atari 2600) away and that was that. No need to make an ebay auction event out of it and embarrass themselves with their shitty spelling and grammar.

..Happens to all of us… Yeah. F them.

My old man would just ground me. That would suck when you have a social life which it sounds like the kid does.

I remember I struck out in a 9th grade baseball game for the 3rd straight time against our arch rival who I wanted to homer off of so bad…the third time I chucked my helmet down the 3rd base line and yelled the f bomb out loud and the whole crowd heard it.

I got ejected – my old man grabbed through me in the car (This was on a friday afternoon) and told me I wasn’t going anywhere for the weekend.

NOTE: I had a bottle of VODKA stashed in the woods with 3 of my boys and we were going to this girls house that night…damn…Now that’s discipline! 😉
